Do you like Pizza? Gosh, I’m crazy about it. Well, pizzaratings.net is your gateway to the fabulous world of pizza. We love to eat it, make it, have it delivered, enjoy it in a restaurant, ponder toppings... you get the picture. We have strong opinions on pizza, and we don’t pull our punches. So if you have the guts, read on.
First, many of our fans live in the Chicagoland area. I love you all, but for sure deep-dish pie is an acquired taste. A great taste, don’t get me wrong, but definitely not something about which a bicoastal pizza maven is knowledgeable. I grew up with the thin-crust variety, dripping red grease, sporting only toppings that threaten your health. Sure, maybe some members of the vegetable kingdom might find its way onto my slice, but it better be an onion or a pepper. Broccoli get back!
No, a slice of pizza should be 3/4 meat by weight. A nice starting layer of pepperoni and sausage should support some tasty members of the beef food group: meatballs, hamburger, steak bits, roast beef, etc. Of course, ham, bacon, and chicken are always welcome.
Cheese? Yes! Not béchamel sauce, not cheddar, not pasteurized cheese food product. Mozzarella, and lots of it, thank you. It goes down FIRST, then the sauce. A good pizza sauce is full of fresh tomato, marjoram, oregano, garlic, and if you can handle it, some hot pepper flakes. But I am not parochial when it comes to sauces – one of my favorite pies of all time came with a basil pesto sauce to die for.
Obviously, you must rate a pizza pie according to your own tastes. The important point – eat pizza, and lots of it!!
